Proper Coaching, Real Strength in Leeds
Group classes, personal training and open gym for anyone who wants to get properly strong.
Our Services
What We Offer
Whether you're new to a barbell or you've been lifting for years, there's a way into Forge that starts with proper instruction.
Strength Coaching Classes
£12 / class
Small group sessions built around the big lifts, squat, deadlift, press and bench, with a coach watching every set. You leave each session having moved better than when you walked in, not just tired.
Personal Training
from £45 / session
One-to-one time with a coach who builds a plan around your body, your history and what you're actually trying to achieve. It's the fastest way to fix technique that's held you back for years or to work around an old injury properly.
Open Gym
£35 / month
Access to the barbells, racks and plates to run your own session once you know what you're doing. Coaches are on the floor if you need a second pair of eyes on a lift, but the session is yours.
Beginner Foundations
£99 / 4 weeks
For anyone who has never picked up a barbell and doesn't want their first attempt to be in a crowded commercial gym. You're taught the basic lifts from the ground up, at a pace that makes sense, before you join the regular classes.

About Us
Built on Coaching, Not Equipment
We started Forge because Leeds had plenty of gyms but not many places where someone would actually teach you to lift. No mirrors, no fads, just a barbell, a plan, and coaches who watch your form closely enough to catch a bad rep before it becomes a habit. Most people who walk in have never touched a barbell before, and that's the point. You get taught the deadlift the same way whether you're seventeen or fifty seven, properly, from the ground up. Regulars come for the six a.m. sessions before work and stay for the open gym on Saturday mornings. Over time the names on the whiteboard start to feel familiar. It's still a small space with chalk on the floor and plates that get racked wrong sometimes, but the coaching is exact and the people keep showing up for each other as much as the training.

FAQs
Common Questions
I've never done strength training before, is that a problem? +
Not at all, most people who come through the door are starting from scratch. Every new member gets taught the basic lifts properly before joining group classes, so you're never guessing what to do or copying the person next to you.
What should I bring to my first session? +
Wear something you can move in and bring a water bottle, we provide everything else including chalk. Trainers with a flat, firm sole are ideal, but don't worry if you turn up in whatever you've got.
Do you offer trial sessions? +
Yes, we'd rather you try a class and feel what the coaching is like before committing to anything. Get in touch and we'll find a session that suits your schedule and experience level.
How is this different from a normal gym? +
There's no walking in, guessing at machines, and hoping for the best. Every session, whether it's a class, personal training or open gym, has a coach on the floor watching how you move and correcting it.
Can I just use open gym without joining classes? +
Yes, plenty of people who already know how to lift use open gym on its own. You'll still have a coach around if you want feedback on a lift, but you're free to run your own session.
